SPRINGFIELD — Greenville’s Hayden Null fired a school-record 4-under-par 67 to earn medalist honors Friday while leading the Green Wave to a third-place finish at the Arrow Invitational hosted by Tecumseh High School at Windy Knoll Golf Club.
Greenville turned in one of the strongest team performances of the 17-team tournament, shooting a 304 to finish just three strokes behind champion Troy.
Troy captured the team title with a 301, Mason finished second with a 303 and Greenville was one shot back in third at 304. London placed fourth with a 308, followed by Sidney at 309.
Null provided the highlight of the day with his record-setting round on the par-71 course. He recorded an eagle and three birdies while making just one bogey on his way to the 4-under 67.
“Hayden played fantastic today,” Greenville coach Brian Stickle said. “He had an eagle and three birdies with one bogey.”

Null’s performance earned him individual medalist honors and established a new Greenville school record.
The Green Wave also received solid rounds throughout the lineup.
Braxton Moore bounced back from the previous day to card a 78, while freshman Harper Kerns continued his strong early-season play with a 79. Brody Weaver added an 80 to complete Greenville’s four scoring rounds.
Hunter Burns, Greenville’s fifth golfer, finished with an 84.
“Really proud of the boys today,” Stickle said. “Really happy for Hayden. He has worked extremely hard this past summer to get better. Overall, it was a good day for the Wave.”
Greenville’s 304 left the Wave in the middle of a tightly packed battle at the top of the leaderboard. Just eight strokes separated the first five teams, with Troy at 301, Mason at 303, Greenville at 304, London at 308 and Sidney at 309.
Carroll finished sixth with a 321, followed by Kenton Ridge, 327; Butler, 332; Bellefontaine, 335; Tecumseh, 337; Piqua, 343; Northwest, 344; Lakota East, 345; Springfield, 352; Greenon, 387; Shawnee, 389; and Graham, 443.
For Greenville, the day belonged to Null and his record-setting 67, but the Wave’s balanced scoring also showed its ability to contend with a strong tournament field.
