New study names Ohio as one of the best states to be a digital nomad

A new study has named Ohio as the fourth-best state to be a digital nomad, with an index score of 62.80 out of a possible 100. Kentucky is crowned as the best state to be a digital nomad, topping the ranking with an index score of 68 out of 100.

The study examined several factors to award each state with a possible score out of 100, including internet speeds, rent costs, and the availability of computer repair shops.

A digital nomad is an individual who travels freely while working remotely—a lifestyle choice that is becoming increasingly popular across America.

US company formation experts at StartFleet.io examined eight factors to determine the final ranking. These included expenditure costs, internet speeds, and the rent of a one-bedroom apartment in each state.

The state was awarded a score out of ten for each factor, with ten being the highest possible score. The study then calculated a final index score for each state out of 100, determining the final ranking.

The study names Kentucky as the best state to be a digital nomad, topping the list with a final score of 68.41 out of 100. The state received a high score for its low personal consumption expenditure of $44,193 per capita. The research recognized that a low cost of living fee is one of the key factors when it comes to being a digital nomad, placing Kentucky in the number one spot. Kentucky also received a high score for its low monthly rent fee for a one-bedroom apartment, with an average cost of $884. Low rent prices are another essential factor for digital nomads due to the amount of traveling involved in their lifestyle.

Minnesota is in second place, with a final score of 67.26. The state received the highest possible score of ten for having many computer repair shops in the area, with an average of 28 repair shops per 100,000 people. Minnesota was also rated highly for having a fast internet download speed, with an average speed of 128 megabits per second.

Indiana is crowned the third-best state for digital nomads, with a final score of 63.40. The study found that Indiana has a low personal expenditure cost of $46,579 per capita. Indiana was also ranked highly for having low property crimes, with an average of 1,544 offenses per 100,000 people.

Ohio is in fourth place, with a final score of 62.80. The study found that Ohio has a low rent cost for a one-bedroom apartment, totaling an average of $864 per month. The state also has a fast internet download speed, with an average speed of 113 megabits per second, which makes Ohio a go-to location for digital nomads.
