ANSONIA – The Ansonia American Legion met with new Ansonia Police Chief John B. Puckett. This meeting introduced Sgt. Puckett to the American Legion Post and showed him their full support.

Joining Sgt. Puckett in this meeting was Ansonia Mayor Ted Adkins.

The first order of business Sgt. Puckett brought to the meeting was to petition for the donation of body cameras for the Village Police Department. The Legion voted unanimously to donate $ 4,500 for four body cameras.

“Body cameras are a vital tool for today’s force in an ever-litigious society,” Legion member Wes Cothran said.

The legion agreed that body cams are important not only for the police department’s safety but also for the safety and welfare of the community of Ansonia.

Commander Jen Anthony suggested a future use of the hall for a First Responder’s meet and greet where the community could meet the Sgt. Puckett and interact with local Fire and EMS volunteers as well.

The legion will inform the community as soon as a date is set for the First Responders’ meet and greet.
