UNION CITY – On Wednesday, September 24th, the Mississinawa Valley-MVCTC FFA took its freshman members to compete in the District 5 Soils judging contest.
In this contest, members analyze exposed soil pits to determine land capability and suitability for agriculture and residential development. They evaluate soil properties like texture, drainage, depth, and slope, and use this data to make land use recommendations on a scorecard.
Congratulations to Makayla Grow, who was the highest individual from Mississinawa Valley in the Ag Soils competition and to McKinley Stachler and Addysan Preston, who tied for top individual from Mississinawa Valley in the Urban Soils competition.
Members who participated in this contest were McKinley Stachler, Addysan Preston, Miles Hughes, Grayson Wilkerson, Cassidy Seubert, Cade Seubert, Riley Arden, Brooklyn Crain, Makayla Grow, Ella Livingston, Cole Hanes, Nathan Byram, Aubrey Lang, Casen Gower, and Gavin Rehmert.
