Mother’s Day was observed Sunday and it brought back many memories for me of our mother, who departed this earth Sept. 25, 2019.
We could not have asked for a better mother. She was a “jack of all trades,” She could do anything required of a mother….sew, cook, build things, cut our hair, played softball and other games with us and taught us how to drive. The only thing I knew she did not like was swimming, as she feared the water.
Everybody has their pet peeves so she is entitled to have those feelings and I wouldn’t hold that against her..
She would quote us passages in the Bible and always had good advice for all of us.
No wonder Dad chose her to be his wife.
I am thinking Mom became so creative because she was only 14 months old when her father died, and her mother never remarried. All of Grandma Riffell’s kids who were living probably helped her out and did work to help keep the family financially afloat.
Mom was the last of nine children and she, too, had a wonderful mother.
I just hope my son Jamie appreciates me even though I’m probably not as creative as my mother.
