COLUMBUS – The Mississinawa Valley-MVCTC FFA Chapter participated in the Ohio Spring Skills competition, held in Columbus on Saturday, March 22.
The high school general livestock team placed 48th in the state, and the junior high team placed 10th. The high school team consisted of Rylie Alexander, Emma Brock, Ava Hummel, and Gretchen Rodeheffer.
The middle school team members were Makayla Grow, Aubrey Lang, Ella Livingston, Addysan Preston, Cassidy Seubert, and McKinley Stachler. Both teams were coached by Karlee Knapke.
At this competition, the teams had to take a general knowledge test on livestock, fill out a market grid, and judge classes of cattle, goats, sheep, and swine.
The agronomy team placed 3rd at the state level, and was led by Aldon Edger, who also received 3rd place individually. The team consisted of Aldon Edger, Philip Geesaman, Daniel Hartzell, and Rachael Philiposian. The agronomy team was coached by Jeremy Edger. In this competition, those participating identify seeds, plants, and insects along with a team activity finding diseases and plants and a general knowledge test over agronomy.
These teams have both worked hard throughout the past months and have represented our chapter well at the state level.
