INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – On Wednesday, October 29th, advisor Carmen Hartzell and 7 MV-MVCTC FFA members departed the Mississinawa Valley High School at 8 am and headed towards Indianapolis, Indiana.
Around 9 am, they stopped at Fountain Acre Foods, a bulk/grocery store and deli/bakery. Members got to look around the store and purchase items. Then they departed Fountain Acre Foods for Indianapolis.
Once they arrived in Indianapolis, members split up for tours, where some went to the Indianapolis Mounted Patrol tour, and others went to the Corteva Agriscience tour. Then, to finish off day one, Mrs. Hartzell and members spent the evening at the World’s Toughest Rodeo.
The following day, Thursday, began with 3-day members at an opening session and keynote address by A’ric Jackson, while the 1-day crew, accompanied by advisor, Gwen Bergman, began the drive to Indianapolis. After the session, the 3-day group met up with the 1-day and spent some time shopping at the expo center and looking at the career show.
Around 2 pm, members, as well as Mrs. Hartzell and Mrs. Bergman, watched the second general session, where they heard from the United States Secretary of Agriculture, Brooke Rollins, and got to witness Caroline Groth’s (24-25’ Eastern Region Vice President) retiring address. Then both groups went and watched the hypnotist show, where one of our members Ty Houser, even got to be hypnotized.
Once the hypnotist’s show was over, the 1-day group left Indianapolis and headed back to Mississinawa Valley, while the 3-day group rushed back to the hotel to change and finish the night at the Buckeye Bash, a special event just for Ohio FFA Chapter members and advisors to mingle and socialize.
Finally, on Friday morning, the 3-day crew checked out of the hotel and headed to their final session for the trip and got to watch Ohio’s very own, Luke Jennings’ (24-25’ National FFA Secretary) retiring address.
After the session, members changed out of official dress and went for lunch at Ford’s Garage, and finished off the trip touring MVP Dairy in Celina, Ohio, before heading back to Mississinawa.
