MIAMI COUNTY – The Miami County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal two-vehicle traffic crash that occurred Friday, August 28, 2026, at approximately 9:12 p.m. at the intersection of South State Route 48 and Calumet Road in Union Township.
Deputies were initially dispatched following a report of a vehicle striking a telephone pole. Dispatchers later received information that two vehicles were involved, with one vehicle reported to be in a ditch.
Upon arrival, deputies and emergency personnel located a 2024 Honda Accord and a 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The driver of the Honda Accord was transported for medical treatment and later succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing. Both vehicles were impounded pending further investigation, and investigators are continuing to document and evaluate evidence from the scene.
