MIAMI COUNTY – The Miami County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a motor vehicle crash that struck two pedestrians, resulting in one fatality, early this morning on Peters Road between W. Evanston Road and Michaels Road.
At approximately 6:26 a.m., deputies and Tipp City F.D. medics responded to a 911 call reporting that a vehicle had struck two pedestrians. Upon arrival, one pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second pedestrian was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The deceased has been identified as Mathew J. Brown, 51, of Monroe Township.
The Miami County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit is actively investigating the incident. Preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle was driving southbound on Peters Road and crossed over into the northbound lane, striking the pedestrians who were walking southbound. There was no evidence of impairment by the driver. No additional details will be released until the investigation is complete.
