DAYTON – Arcanum-Butler head football coach, Strength & Conditioning Coordinator and Middle School Athletic Director, Matt Macy is completing his first six-year volunteer term as a Southwest District Athletic board member with hopes of being elected for a second term.
Macy serves as President and Class A Representative for the organization that is responsible for all OHSAA district-level tournaments and below as well as sectional and district football playoff games.
“Our charge is to put on the best possible tournament for the kids and make sure they have the best possible experience that they can have,” said Macy. “That is the ultimate goal for us.”
“I enjoy doing it because I love organizing tournaments,” Macy added. “I love doing things to make sure our kids are having a great experience.”
With six years of experience and a presidency just about complete, Macy would like to return to the athletic board to continue to put his experience to work for the betterment of the board.
“The first couple of years I wasn’t sure what needed to be done and now that I am getting into the groove of it I would like to get reelected,” he stated. “Now that I know what needs to be done for me and for the rest of the board I am used to it. Many of the other board members have been around for three or four terms.”
“I hope to be reelected,” Macy concluded. “It takes a lot of time but I do enjoy it. I enjoy serving the Southwest District.”
