Marilyn May Rinehart (87)

577

Marilyn May Rinehart, 87, of rural Arcanum, Ohio left her earthly home on August 15, 2024. Marilyn was born on May 8, 1937, in Laura, Ohio to the late Galen and Beatrice (Seman) Loxley. Marilyn was the second of seven children. Her siblings are Max (Therese), Rosemary, deceased (Jim), Kathe (Mel), Gail Ann, Mark (Pam) and John (Connie) and sister-in-law, Joyce. Marilyn enjoyed growing up on the farm outside of New Madison, Ohio, and raising Holstein cows, which included her favorite “Peggy”, as well as participating in 4-H.

Marilyn is survived by her loving husband, Richard Lee Rinehart, who was her high school sweetheart and the love of her life. Marilyn and Richard were blessed to celebrate 68 years of marriage. They were married on June 10, 1956, at the Castine Church of the Brethren. Marilyn is also survived by daughters Deb (Craig) VanCulin, Angie (John) Troutwine, and Amy (Tracy) Burns as well as grandchildren Laura (Steve) Mohr, Luke (Emily) VanCulin, Arthur (Briana) Troutwine, Simon (Stephanie) Troutwine, Wills (Tanisha) Troutwine, Sheena Troutwine, Samantha (Andrew) Ardle, and Claire Burns. Marilyn’s great-grandchildren are Sadie, Emma and Avery Mohr, Caroline, Eleanor and Madilyn VanCulin, Clarabelle and Dot Troutwine, Athena and Ajax Troutwine, and Josiah Troutwine (on the way).

After the birth of the first of three daughters, Marilyn devoted all her time to homemaking. She was an amazing cook, a talented seamstress, and loved to play the piano and sing as well as listen to all types of music. Marilyn had an appreciation of all things beautiful. She thoroughly enjoyed decorating her home and taking her girls shopping. During the warmer months, Cincinnati Reds games were her favorite thing to have on the radio. Throughout their marriage, Marilyn, along with Richard, enjoyed many pastimes, including racing go-karts, Western-style square dancing, watching their grandchildren’s many activities, visiting with friends, and attending the Great Darke County Fair. They were big fans of and attended many local concerts by Spittin’ Image. In fact, the two Swabb brothers graciously serenaded Marilyn at her bedside with some of her favorite songs on Sunday, August 11, 2024, while her extended family sang, clapped and danced along!

Marilyn has been described (by her grandchildren) as witty, funny, feisty, strong, vibrant, creative, talented, and lovable. While her family and friends feel profound sadness at her absence, they are filled with joy knowing she is wholly healed and in the presence of Jesus.
The family thanks EverHeart Hospice and Marilyn’s amazing caregivers they were blessed to get to know them during Marilyn’s journey.
