March Holstein 4-H club meeting

GREENVILLE  – On Mar 25, 2024, Darke County Holstein 4-H club held their March 4-H meeting at Kellers Feed Mill at 8 pm.

The meeting was called to order, and Ruth Bruns made a health and safety report. Members were reminded to pay dues and for record books.

They also got reminded to finish enrollment by Apr 1. On Mar 5, our club won 1st place with the most club shirts at the 4-H skating party.

Any members that are getting turkeys need to pick them up on Apr 5 from 1-4 pm at the extension office.

Anyone interested in attending the Ohio Dairy Palooza is Saturday, Apr 20, from 9 am – 4 pm at the Canfield Fairgrounds. You need to be preregistered by Apr 5.

There is a Poultry Clinic on Saturday, Apr 13, from 10 am to noon. The clinic will focus on nutrition, animal care, animal health, processing, showmanship, fair selection, and biosecurity. Also at the clinic information and updates will be provided on the mandatory skillathon.

The Dayton Dragons 4-H night is May 4. The deadline to order tickets is Apr 5. $4.00 from every ticket will go to your local 4-H OSU Extension Office.

Trash Bash is on Apr 20. You can pick up your trash bash items on the 19th at the fairgrounds after 3:30 pm.

We then had Danny Schrader, a former Darke County Holstein member. He discussed nutrition and why it is important to feed the proper things.
