Man arrested for multiple counts of Cruelty to Animals

PREBLE COUNTY – Deputies executed a search warrant on November 20, at 2495 Winnerline Road regarding an animal cruelty investigation.

Deputies found numerous animals living in filthy conditions, without food and water. Calves, cows, sheep and horses on the property were found without adequate shelter. A dog on the property was found deceased and a necropsy revealed that it had been shot twice.

Animals found on the property were removed and medically checked by a veterinarian. The animals that were removed are being cared for by volunteers.

The owner, Robert L. Hammaker, age 71, of the listed address, was arrested and charged in Eaton Municipal Court with the following:

  • Cruelty To Companion Animals, a 5th Degree Felony
  • (15) counts of Cruelty to Animals, each a 2nd Degree Misdemeanor.

    Bond was set by the court and Hammaker has posted bond and was released. This case remains under investigation.
