Louie Francis Rivetti, II, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on January 21, 2024, at age 96. He was born on June 10, 1927, in Aliquippa, PA, to parents Luigi and Rosina (Tortora) Rivetti. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jack, James, and Anthony, and his sisters, Mary Grace, Sandina, Anne, and Carmella.

 He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Nan “Nancy” (Hoover), and their three sons and their wives, Louie and Monica Masso-Rivetti of Greenville, Jack and Terri Rivetti of Huber Heights, and Andrew and Veronica Rivetti of Poplar Bluff, MO, their eight grandchildren, Cella and Tony Masso-Rivetti, Clare Rivetti, Joseph (Seth) Rivetti-Sharpe and Jacob Rivetti, and Diego, Gabriela and Alejandro Rivetti, and a number of beloved nieces and nephews. 

                                                                                                                                                             Louie was a graduate of Aliquippa High School in Aliquippa, PA. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a Seaman First Class. Louie earned a Bachelor of Music Performance degree and a Master of Music degree from the College-Conservatory of the University of Cincinnati. Louie was the Principal Tuba for the Kansas City Philharmonic Orchestra for seven years. He also played tuba with the Jacksonville, Florida, Symphony Orchestra, the Cincinnati Summer Opera Orchestra, the Brevard, North Carolina, Festival Orchestra, and the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra.

                                                                                                                                                              Louie was the band director for the Seaman, Ohio, High School and then the band director for Ansonia Senior High School for seven years. He retired due to disability and then tuned pianos for many years throughout Darke County.

                                                                                                                                                              Louie was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greenville, for which he played the organ at Saturday evening Mass for many years. He was also a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus.                                                                                                                                                  

Louie enjoyed composing music for orchestra, band, chorus, brass choir, and piano. He also enjoyed raising a large vegetable garden every summer. He was a lifelong fan of the University of Notre Dame as well as of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 27, 2024, in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 233 West Third Street, Greenville, Ohio, with Father Matt Fiest as celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Church Cemetery in Greenville. 

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 26, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville, Ohio. Prayers will be offered on Friday at 4:30 PM, and the Rosary will be recited by the Knights of Columbus at 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
