The past couple of days have been kind of dreary for Jamie and me. Yet, we had each other which was a plus.
Thanksgiving activity and its true meaning became a reality on Saturday, two days later, when a new family member made her way to our home on their way to their family’s own Thanksgiving celebration.
Yes, great-nephew, Buck Jones, and his significant other, Jasmine Trent, brought their new daughter, Sunni, to see us.
She was born a preemie on Oct. 30, the day before Halloween, and has done so well in her “new life’ that she has gone from 2 pounds, 11 ounces to over 4 pounds, and she had gotten released from the hospital this past week.
Well, after Buck and Jasmine entered our home, they “unveiled” their latest addition to the family. What a precious moment.
My first thought was it was a tiny baby doll underneath that blanket. It brought tears to my eyes. Unbelievable, for I’d never seen such a small child until that moment.
She was sleeping and, oh, so into that sleep that she never awoke during her visit here. But, that’s okay. There will be more days.
Sunni, in my opinion, was a miracle birth. And, my love for her was instant. Jamie agreed.
I haven’t held her yet but I am pretty sure I will get plenty of chances in the near future.
Yes, Jamie was also impressed and got a little choked up after they left.
Both Buck and Jasmine are going to make great parents and are glad to have their little one home. And, so are we.
What a “wonderful” Halloween gift for Buck and Jasmine and what a Thanksgiving “gift” to Jamie and me that they made this special introduction to Sunni to us. For that, we thank you for making this happen and making another memory for my son and me.
Buck’s mom and my niece, the former Michelle Brumbaugh, and her husband Bob “Boo” Jones, are thrilled with this new addition to the family as well and I cannot blame them. “I can’t get enough of her,” Michelle said.
I know that my parents, the late Lee and Bea Moody, would have enjoyed meeting her. They loved their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Welcome to our family, Sunni! (And, yes, I love the name)
