Life’s Reflections: Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone

This is just a small amount of ideas for Valentine's Day giving. Of course, flowers and all kinds of other gifts would be among the other things to give a loved one. (Linda Moody photo)

Well, it’s upon us. Valentine’s Day, that is.

That holiday brings back memories of elementary days when we would decorate boxes to take to school to exchange Valentine’s messages with our classmates and usually our teacher.

I don’t remember making the boxes probably because I am not as creative as my mother would have been. I am thinking I was not as proud of my Valentine box.

Looking back, it was a fun time, especially when you could take them home and read each and every one of them in your own privacy.

I thought it was nice when I would get one from a cute classmate only to come to reality and realize he probably had to do it or had other members of his family to sign the cards he was passing out. One can dream, can’t she/he?

In the past as I’ve gotten older, I recall writing articles about those who celebrated anniversaries on Feb. 14 and I’ve even done stories, if I remember correctly, focusing on people born on that day. I ran last week’s list in my column but I will repeat them here.

The anniversaries on Feb. 14 on my list are Elaine and Butch Amspaugh, celebrating 64 years’ Brad and Cindy Horsley, 19 years; and Dennis and Nina Barga, 47 years; while the late Mildred and Richard Labig, would have been celebrating 81 years this year.

Birthdays I have on my list are: once again, Butch Amspaugh, who is 84; as well as Michele Good, Joshua Widener and the late Sherry Ungericht, Chris Young, Sherry Benge, Elmer stuck, Leona Sheets, Maurice Longfellow and Esther Heltzel.

According to one of my sources (Google), Valentine’s Day is also called Saint Valentine’s Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine, which is celebrated annually on the same date. Observed for 1,528 years, it is also called Saint Valentine’s Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine.

Its significance? Feast day of Saint Valentine; the celebration of love and affection.

People celebrate it in different ways, of which I am sure cards, flowers, candy, date nights are highly involved.

Sounds romantic, doesn’t it? I love it.

No matter how you celebrate it, enjoy!
