ANSONIA—The new life coming into our family soon will be a welcome addition as all of them have over the years.

A baby shower was held on Sunday afternoon for my great-niece Rileigh Norton at the home of her mother Breanne and her husband Ben Bucholtz.

The spacious living room was filled with more people than I have ever seen at such an event. In the kitchen area nearby was a table full of food for the guests and a side corner was flowing with gifts of all sizes…lots of gifts for the precious little boy who is expected to make his appearance sometime in May.

Guests at the shower included our side of the family, the baby’s father Kadin Saintignon’s side of the family as well as other relatives and friends of all involved. There were four generations present on the Saintignon side and three on ours. Now, these are our extended family.

I don’t think I have ever attended a baby shower with that many gifts to be opened. You can be sure that he won’t do without anything for quite awhile.

I couldn’t believe all of the little outfits he received as well as the other necessities in his life, including diapers, wipes, blankets, various toys, wash cloths, towels, lotions and what Rileigh called “butt creams” (for the baby I’m assuming).

And, because “jungle” was the theme of the party, much of the gifts focused on that when choosing the gifts for the occasion. Not only were those types of animals featured on some of the onesies and other clothing he received but he also got quite a few stuffed animals to keep him company when he gets here.
It makes me wonder if they have enough room in their home to store all of these gifts, but I’m sure they will figure it out.

Rileigh is the oldest child of my sister Brenda’s middle daughter, Breanne; thus, this will be Brenda’s first great-grandchild.

Brenda is on cloud nine for this event. She is all about family, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

It was sort of nostalgic for me, because I remember when Rileigh was born and the times I had the opportunity to babysit for her whenever I got time off from my job (like vacations) and Breanne worked at her job.

I fell in love with that little girl, and I missed her when Brenda’s family moved to Greenville quite a few years ago.

But, life goes on and our family is growing even more. Love it.
