GREENVILLE – The Lady Wave wasted little time defeating the visiting Stebbins Lady Indians 3-0 in Thursday night MVL action.
“It was nice we could play everybody tonight,” said Greenville head coach Michelle Hardesty.
The Greenville varsity girls handily took the opening set 25-7, setting the tone for the night’s conference matchup.
Set No. 2 went to the Lady Wave 25-20, with Greenville senior Shyanne Gibboney setting the school’s all-time career digs record for the Lady Wave.
In the third set of the night, Greenville earned its second double-digit win, taking the final set 25-14 to earn the shutout win.
After a slow start due to injuries and illness, the Lady Wave started the season 0-4. However, they have reeled off four consecutive wins to even their mark at 4-4.
“We are definitely starting to round into shape,” said Michelle Hardesty. “They are a well-rounded team. We can throw different people out there, and they will perform.”
“Good effort tonight,” said assistant coach Jim Hardesty. “The team seems to be rounding into shape, coming off many injuries. We’re trying to work them back in the lineup. We’ve looked like the team we thought we would have from the start in the last four matches.”
