GREENVILLE – The Greenville Lady Wave Softball (LWSB) program presented the 2025 team awards Monday night at Greenville High School. The team compiled a 27-3 season mark, which included a Miami Valley League Title, a District Championship, and a Regional Runner-up.
Coach Jerrod Newland welcomed all attendees and thanked the community for its support of the Lady Wave Softball program.
“I would like to thank the fans, the families, and the community,” said Newland. “Lady Wave Softball is a special thing, and we enjoyed the chance to perfection. The battle of the mountain continues.”
Three seniors made the transition from LWSB player to LWSB alumni following the 2025 graduation ceremonies: No. 5 Kylar Arnett, No. 19 Morgan Thompson, and No. 21 Zoey Burns.
“Bittersweet … it’s hard to let those kids leave the program,” Newland said. “Lived a lot of huge games with them, and it’s very hard not to write those names down on the card.”
The Lady Wave Softball program has compiled a streak of 22 consecutive seasons with 25 or more wins and has been the MVL conference champions 17 times in the last 19 years.
“Amazing run for Lady Wave Nation,” Coach Newland said. “Proud of the kids and families.”
Coach Newland is known for scheduling some of the state’s best programs each season to round out a schedule that includes an excellent Miami Valley League (MVL), a conference comprised of Division I and DII schools, with the Lady Wave consistently taking the conference title year after year.

Zoey Burns 149 hits, 149 RBIs, and batted over .400 for her Lady Wave Softball career.
Kylar Arnett 139 hits, 120 runs, and 108 RBIs, hit over .400 career for her LSWB career.
“Those two will be in the Hall of Fame in ten years,” Coach Newland said of Burns and Arnett. “Those two are two of the greatest ever. Love the kids, great program.”
Three seniors close out Lady Wave Softball careers with a 108-19 record, an impressive 27-game average wins per season.
“I love those three. They are all-time favorites,” said Newland. “I’ve been with them daily the last three years as coaches and kids, and when I had to take their names down and collect their bags today at the field, it was tough. I struggled tonight with closure.”
LWSB veteran Hall of Fame coach Jerrod Newland closes out the season with an outstanding 588-110 career record. Considering the last game of each season in state tournament play is a loss, except for the team that wins the state championship game, which Newland’s Lady Wave did in 2007, taking away that inevitable final loss, Newland would have a 588-89 record.
