GREENVILLE – The Lady Wave soccer team had its final preseason warmup when the Coldwater Lady Cavaliers traveled to Harmon Field for a Saturday morning scrimmage.

The varsity squad opened play with a 40 minute half followed by a 20 minute JV period and closed out the morning with 20 minutes of varsity action.
The Lady Wave struggled to find the net but continue to show improvement on the field as they look to open regular season play, Friday, August 11 vs the Twin Valley South Lady Panthers with a 7 p.m. start time.

“We came out hesitant the first 40,” said Coach Dave Ernst. “I challenged them after that … we improved. We made steps to correct issues. That’s all I can ask for them.”
“We have four days (practice) before the first game,” he added. “We’ll make more improvements.”

With a Lady Wave roster numbering 23 players it allows the program an opportunity to have a full JV squad for the upcoming season.

“We have three JV matches now,” Ernst stated. “Mr. Shaffer is working hard to get more. We’ll do an inner squad on Tuesday night so we get field time. Practice is one thing but getting on the field playing it is just so beneficial just getting field time so we are really going to try and get more. I would really like to get six or eight so they get the field time they need and deserve because there’s a future and we need that.”
