GREENVILLE – The Greenville Lady Wave handily defeated the visiting Troy Lady Trojans 44-23 in MVL basketball action Saturday afternoon.

“Fantastic team win,” said Greenville coach Rachael Kerns. “Something people may or may not know about – a really hard week for us as a whole, more than one reason, and it was tough.”

“They don’t see the emotional coach very much and had to see me be emotional a few different times,” she added. “We still have a long way to go as far as figuring out what will happen within our program, but to come together the way we did, we had a nice practice Friday and a great Saturday.”

Greenville took the opening quarter 14-2 with six Lady Wave getting in the scoring column led by four Jayda Lyons points.

The Greenville girls doubled up on the Lady Trojans in period No. 3 by a 14-7 count, paced by six points each from Lind and Megan Loudy.

Coach Kerns praised her two senior post players, Megan Lind and Brooke Schmidt, and senior floor leader Avery Baumann.

“Our bigs dominated in the first and second quarter, getting any offense rebound they wanted,” Kerns stated. “That’s what we needed to see, and they did a great job doing that.”

“I know Avery would love to score a little bit more but she is doing such a good job getting it to the other people who can score,” Coach Kerns said. “A great win, and it was a one through five effort today.”

Lind led Greenville and all scorers with a game-high 18 points.
