GREENVILLE – The Greenville Lady Wave earned a 33-28 Senior Night win over Piqua Lady Indians to sweep the two 2025-2026 conference games over the Lady Indians.

Greenville honored two seniors, No. 4 Jayda Lyons and No. 15 Sara Loudy, before the MVL game.

“The two seniors, just amazing,” said Greenville coach Shane Hillard. “As my first year here, when I’m trying to set a foundation and build my program and what I’m trying to get done here, I couldn’t ask for two better seniors to help lay the foundation for what we’re trying to get done.”

“They’re amazing kids, they’re amazing students, they carry themselves the right way in public as well as on the court,” he continued. “I’m going to miss them – I wish I had them for one more year because on the basketball side of it, those two have come so far this year. What they bring is going to be sorely missed .”

The teams got off to a slow start with Greenville taking the opening period by a 6-3 score.

“It’s hard to get going if you start slow,” Hillard stated. “But credit to them, on a day where you’re not playing well and your best, you still find a way.”

Period No. 2 had play stepping up on the offensive side with the Lady Wave earning a one-point 12-11 second quarter, sending the teams to the break with Greenville leading 18-14.

Piqua battled back with nine third-quarter points while holding the Lady Wave to seven, with Greenville holding a slim 25-23 advantage with one period remaining to be played.

The Lady Wave stepped up in the fourth, outscoring the visitors 8-5 in earning a five-point Senior Night victory.

“We scored 33, we probably should have had 53 on the table with made layups and free throws,” Hillard said.

Greenville was just 8-22 (36 percent) from the charity stripe, only 1-11 from three-point range, and 11-30 from shooting two-point baskets.

“We weren’t very good offensively today,” said Coach Hillard. “We missed some layups, left a lot of layups on the table, we didn’t shoot well from the line but we did do a lot of things to get those layups. We had some really good moments. We turned it over way too much today but the kids play so hard and they just find a way.”

Greenville senior Jayda Lyons led the Lady Wave with 15-points.
