Lady Buccs successful season comes to a close

PLEASANT HILL – The Covington Lady Buccs dropped an OHSAA DVII volleyball match to the Sidney Lehman Catholic Lady Cavaliers 3-1 in Thursday night tournament action.

Covington defeated the Lady Cavaliers twice in the regular 2024 season but struggled to get the third win over the Shelby County school.

Lehman jumped out to a 6-0 first-set lead before Covington battled back to trail 13-5, bringing a timeout from the Sidney bench. Unable to keep the momentum going, the Lady Cavaliers grabbed an early 1-0 lead with a 25-17 win.

The Lady Buccs stepped up to play in set No. 2 with a 9-5 advantage with Lehman calling a timeout. Covington maintained four and five-point leads to win 25-21 and even the match at a game apiece.

In the third set of the night, Covington took a 13-11 lead, but the lead did not hold up, as the Lady Cavaliers won set No. 3 by a 25-18 score.

Covington made it close in the end before falling 25-23 in the fourth and deciding set, concluding their season.
