GREENVILLE – Kindyl Peltz became the all-time Greenville High School career assist leader for the Lady Wave volleyball program in the third set of Thursday night’s MVL win over the visiting Fairborn Lady Skyhawks.
“Ever since my freshman year, I worked towards it,” Peltz said of her record-breaking night. “I’ve been building up over the last two years. I couldn’t have done it without my hitters. It has always been something I’ve been working towards, and then this year I realized how close I really was, and I was able to finish strong.”
“I am super excited for Kindyl,” said Lady Wave head coach Michelle Hardesty. “Every kill starts with a perfect set, and Kindyl has delivered time after time. Tonight, she etched her name in the record books, and I have to believe it’s going to live there for quite a long time. She has been a rock at the setter position, she’s been a rock for this team, a very consistent, constant player and leader for the Lady Wave in the last three years, so we are just super proud of her.”
Peltz passed Libby McKenny’s class of 2021 assist record to become the Lady Waves’ all-time assist leader with 2,135 assists. Earlier this season, Peltz passed Mckenny’s record of 166 aces to become the school’s ace serve record holder.
“Libby did a great job of getting Kindyl prepared,” said GHS assistant coach Jim Hardesty. “She worked with her a little bit, and then we worked hard on her freshman year, getting her ready to go.”
“We’ve been blessed to have two great setters back-to-back,” Jim added. “Eight years, we’ve had two setters that have been a milestone of what we’re trying to do. We’ve broken about every record we have in this school in the last eight years, and it all comes down to these setters doing a great job, and both of them led in Aces and both of them led in assists. Kindyl chased the best there was, and she’s now the best we have.”
With the 2025 season almost complete and the OHSAA tournament ahead, Kindyl looked to what lies ahead.
“Finishing the season strong,” she stated, “and then the next chapter, college.”
“This milestone doesn’t happen without hard work, and she is very capable of going on to another level, doing the same thing, and being a leader amongst any college that she chooses,” Coach Michelle said. “She is an unselfish player, and that is what makes great leaders and builds great teams.”
