Kay L. Poeppelman (74)

Kay L. Poeppelman, 74 of Versailles, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at 1:30 PM at Hospice of Miami County. Kay was born January 17, 1951, in Greenville, Ohio, the daughter of the late Vernon and Dorothy (Kremer) Winner.

Kay worked as a Nurse at Wayne Hospital for 28 years and as a Librarian at Bradford Public Library for 12 years. She was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church where she was very active as a Sacristan and Eucharistic Minister; she enjoyed volunteering at the Darke County Parks and organizing youth activities at the library; she was a member of the Friends of Bears Mill; she enjoyed gardening, cooking, hiking, bird watching, kayaking, and loved traveling with her family; and most of all she loved taking care of her grandchildren.

Kay is survived by her husband, James A. Poeppelman whom she married September 2, 1972; her three children and their spouses, Lori and Robert DiRenzo, Canfield, Jared and Susan (Fiancée) Poeppelman, Centerville, and Lee and Rachelle Poeppelman, Versailles; her grandchildren, Owen and Lydia DiRenzo, Nia, Lucy, Ethan, and Noah Poeppelman, Maggie Collins, and Oliver Deaton; her seven siblings, Beverly Mayer, Larry Winner, Jean Buxton, LouAnn Lowe, J.D. Winner, Mike Winner, and Renee Miller; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kay is preceded in death by her parents and her nieces and nephews, Michelle (Shelly) Buxton, Brett Oliver, and Jennifer Winner.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at 10:30 AM, at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles with Rev. Fr. Ned Brown as Celebrant. Burial following in St. Valbert Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, and from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM on Wednesday at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio.
