Jon C. Snyder age 71, of Versailles passed away Saturday, April 1, 2023, at his residence.

Jon was born September 13, 1951, to the late Louden & Grace (Coombs) Snyder. Jon was also preceded in death by his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Robert (Gus) & Norma Barga; brothers, Matt Snyder, Clark Snyder; and infant brothers, Tom Snyder, Jerry Snyder and Mark Snyder.

Jon is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carmen (Barga) Snyder whom he married July 2, 1977; daughter & son-in-law, Elizabeth (Betsy) & Ryan Chivington of Deltona, Florida; grandchildren, Eli, Kate, Kylie, Titus, Sarah, Kari, Judah and Grace; siblings, Janet & Tom Armstrong, Linda & Dave Castle, Dane & Sheila Snyder, Karla Weaver and Don Snyder; brother-in-law, R. Douglas Barga; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jon was raised in Portland, Indiana, and was a 1970 graduate of Portland High School. Jon worked for his father-in law at Gus’s Garage & Towing in Versailles and later became owner. He later started and operated KROWN Rust Protection until his retirement. Jon enjoyed riding his motorcycle and spending time with his grandchildren.

Jon was a faithful member of the Versailles Christian Church where he served as Deacon and was very active in many positions at the church. Jon was a gentle soul with a strong moral compass. A loving, kind, compassionate, loyal and caring person. He was a giver not a taker. He always looked for ways to help others. He lived as a child of God. He loved his family, friends, church and community and is deeply missed by all.

A celebration of Jon’s life will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Versailles Christian Church 105 West Ward Street, Versailles, OH 45380. The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 10:30 am at the church. Memorial contributions may be made given to Alive Church 2665 N. Atlantic Ave. Box 136, Daytona Beach, FL 32118 or online (The Church that Pastor Ryan & Betsy and their family founded in 2022 and are leading), Everheart Hospice in Greenville or the Cancer Association of Darke County in Jon’s memory. Arrangements have been entrusted to Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles.
