Jeanne L. Brandon, age 103, of Versailles, Ohio, passed away peacefully at 5:35 AM on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at the Village Green Healthcare Center, Greenville, Ohio. Jeanne was born in Shelby County, Ohio, on October 20, 1920, to the late Edward & Charlotte (Fessler) Lyons.
Jeanne graduated from Houston High School in 1940 and went on to marry the love of her life, Riley, on January 28, 1950; they were married for 59 years. She worked for Versailles Schools in the cafeteria for 17 years and was the bookkeeper for her husband Riley’s Brandon Brothers Construction business. She attended St. Denis Catholic Church, was a former member of the Coterie Club, and was a former leader of the Girl Scouts and 4-H programs. She was active in Poultry Days and the Versailles Athletic Boosters and Music Boosters.
She loved her time attending her grandchildren’s activities and always made sure they had a “second home” right across the pasture from their house. Her annual Christmas cookie baking with her daughter and grandchildren is a lifetime memory they all cherish.
In her free time, Jeanne enjoyed being outdoors, working in her flower beds, collecting antiques, and shopping. Later in life, few things brought her more joy than visits from her great-grandchildren.
She is a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother who will be truly missed. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Riley Brandon; brothers Bernard, Marion, Urban, Norbert, George, Joseph, and Eddie Lyons; sisters Catherine Ernst, Regina White, and Dorthea Henne.
Jeanne is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Jim Schulte; grandchildren, John and Elyse Schulte, Jessica and Adam Hein, and Kristen and Colton Adkins; great-grandchildren Riley and James Schulte, Hattie, Elizabeth and Andrew Hein, and Charlotte Adkins; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on the family from 9:00 -11:00 AM on Friday, January 26, 2024, at the Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles, Ohio. The funeral service will be at 11 AM with Fr. Matt Feist presiding. Burial to follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Versailles, Ohio. Memorial donations may be made to Everheart Hospice or The Friends of St. Denis – Marian Garden Fund.
