On Tuesday, October 15, Janice B. Reifsnider slipped peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We will miss her dearly but are thankful that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
Janice was born to Hilbert and Emma Kain on July 13, 1928 in Muncie, IN where she grew up and attended college. She married the love of her life, John Reifsnider in August of 1948. They enjoyed 45 years together and had 3 sons, Randy, Brian and Scott. As retirees, they loved golfing and traveling together. Her husband passed in 1993.
She was also preceded in death by her older brother, Robert Kain, her parents, and her youngest son Scott. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Alla Reifsnider of Prospect KY, Brian and Janie Reifsnider of Greenville, younger brother, Dr. Jay D. Kain of Pinckney, MI, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Janice received a bachelor’s degree in art and physical education from Ball State University. She later earned a master’s degree in art from the University of Saint Francis in Ft Wayne. She taught art for nearly 30 years in the East Allen County Schools. In retirement, she continued to teach classes in painting, pottery and tapestry to adults and children.
After living in Ft Wayne for nearly six decades, Janice relocated to Greenville in 2016. As her health allowed, Janice was an active member of Greenville Grace Church and treasured her small group. She appreciated the local art guild, Bear’s Mill activities, and played bridge weekly with a group of ladies that she enjoyed immensely.
A celebration of Janice’s life and faith will be held on Saturday, October 26, at 11 am at Greenville Grace Church. [4805 St Route 49 S. Greenville, OH 45331] The family will greet relatives and friends one hour prior to the service. If desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to EverHeart Hospice of Greenville or Greenville Grace Church.
