Jane A Smith of Troy (77)

1082

Jane A Smith, 77 of Troy, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at 9:10 AM at her daughters’ residence. Jane was born June 21, 1946, in Piqua, Ohio, the daughter of the late Leroy Richard and Dorotha (Yingst) Magnotte.

Jane was a 1964 graduate of Versailles High School. She started her working career at Champion Paper Company as a secretary where she worked for several years. Jane would say the most precious time in her life was having her children, Ryan in 1971 and Jennifer in 1973. While her children were in school, she babysat numerous preschool-age children. Jane took delight in helping local auctioneers, helping with setting up and recording what was sold. Jane spent the last 30 years of her working career with Upper Valley Medical Center in Registration for the Outpatient PT Department.

Jane had a love for her beautiful flower gardens that she spent hours working in; she was proud to be a wonderful “old-fashioned cook” and always made the best dishes and desserts for holidays and special occasions.

Having traveled to many parts of the US, her favorite places were Clear Lake and the beaches of North Carolina, and Florida where she spent many vacations with her children, grandchildren, and extended family.

Jane is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, James, John, and Fred Richard; and her nephew, Scott McPherson.

Jane is the beloved mother of Ryan Smith and Jennifer Stewart. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Madelynn, and Logan Stewart; her sister, Kathy McPherson; her sisters-in-law, Mary and Lisa Richard; her friend, Jerry and his children, and grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jane will be missed by all who knew and loved her, as she was a kind and gentle soul always finding the positive in those around her.

Services will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at 10:30 AM at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home with Chaplain Teresa McClennon officiating. Burial will follow in St. Valbert Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday and 1 hour prior to the services on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County.
