James (Jim) Ronald Didier, age 84, of Versailles passed away on May 1, 2026, at home surrounded by his family.
Jim was born April 15, 1942, in Piqua to the late Raymond and Marie (Pierron) Didier. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Shelia Didier on January 15, 2025, as well as sisters Dorothy Mangen and Ann Hodges and brother Edward Didier, brothers-in-law John Mangen, Maurice Brunswick, Robert Hodges, Robert Gigandet, George Gigandet, Jerome Gigandet and Norman Gigandet and sisters-in-law Beverly Didier, Karon Crowell, Myrna Gigandet and Joan Gigandet.
Jim and Shelia were united in marriage on July 18, 1964 and surviving are their children Randy and Angie Didier of Versailles and Sandy and Shawn Peters of Versailles; grandchildren, Dylan and Kacie Didier; Benjamin and Erica Didier; Elliot and Maci Didier; Nathan and Mara Peters; Cassie Peters; Dalton Didier and fiancé Charmaine; Cole and Marilyn Harshbarger; great-grandchildren, Loretta and Wade Didier; Rylin Didier; Braxton, Eldean, and Maria Didier; Daisy and Declan Didier, Cyrus Huey, Leia Latham; Harper and Laney Harshbarger.
He is survived by sisters Lucille Brunswick and Mary Raffel and brothers Robert Didier; Richard Didier and Mark Didier as well as sisters-in-law Shirley Didier, Deb Didier and Evelyn Gigandet and brother-in-law Lyle Crowell.
Jim served in the U.S. Army from 1961-1963. He owned his own business, Industrial Trucks & Equipment, which he and Shelia operated together for 32 years until they retired together. He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles. He was also a member of the Versailles Eagles, the American Legion and the Woodsfield Moose. Jim enjoyed hunting all his life, owning a cabin in southeastern Ohio for 37 years, as well as traveling as far as Africa for hunting. He always enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and doing BBQ chicken on the half barrel using the family BBQ sauce recipe.
A funeral service will be held at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 10:30 AM with Randy Didier officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Versailles with full military honors conducted by the Versailles Veterans’ Honor Guard. An open house celebration of Jim’s life at the Versailles Vet’s Club will immediately precede the burial. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home and from 9:30-10:30 AM on Friday, May 8, 2026.
