GREENVILLE – Everything’s FREE at the Back to School Block Party, scheduled for Saturday, August 10, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Marsh Parking, located on Martin Street in Greenville, sponsored by Radiant Lighthouse and Tribute Funeral Homes.
“This year, we are featuring hygiene items,” said Christyana Roberts, Radiant Lighthouse Admen. “Each school-age child who comes through will get a free book bag, hygiene items, a free haircut, a lunch, and a back-to-school picture.”
The Back to School Block Party is open to all Darke County school district students from kindergarten to seniors.
“We have local beauticians; Julie Brickler gets five or six girls to come here and cut hair,” said Eric Fee. “The kids get a free lunch provided by Merchant House and Montage. They have been on board since day one. Jake Snyder of photobomb is coming back this year. He donates his time to take pictures of the kids. He gives the kids the back-to-school pitcher right on the spot.”
Fee added, “John Baumgardner and Bill Coomer allow us to use their building for the event on Martin Street.”
Eric and Christyana thanked the many local businesses that help make the free Back to School Block Party possible.
