I’m still hoping for answers for a cure for my aching feet, legs, back and knees.
In the meantime, I will handle what journalistic jobs I can do, and think hard about what I am afraid to do and not do.
For heaven’s sake, I don’t want to fall and embarrass myself, nor do I want to break anything that is related to any of these body parts.
I may start taking my walker with me if things don’t get any better but I don’t want people to see that I am aging, like they don’t already know that by now.
I think I’ll keep the walker near my couch, where it has been for quite a few weeks. It helps me in my efforts in getting up off of it from a sitting position, and I also have my son Jamie who offers to help me up whenever he sees me struggling. I joined a group on Facebook that has something to do with neuropathy and nerve pain, but I haven’t done too much research on it yet. I am just waiting for people to start talking about their problems so I can change my strategy for getting better.
And, If I have to, I will open up to others.
I was leery about attending a certain meeting last week because of the forecasted storm watch and I am glad I stayed home because I don’t know if I could have handled that with high winds and rain and lightning. I think I made the right decision.
The next night, I was asked to cover once again the annual Ansonia FFA banquet and I was a little iffy about going, but I did since the weather was okay. After I got there, I found a seat and I stayed there the whole time and that worked out fairly well, but because I sat too long, I wasn’t sure I would be able to stand well, but I did when we repeated the Pledge of Allegiance. I just hope people didn’t see me groping the table and the back of my chair to get up.
I had to park pretty far away from the building when I first arrived, but I made it into the building safely. I finally got a seat inside with a group of Greenville FFA members attending the banquet, who said they didn’t mind if I sat with them.
Then, about four hours later, it was time to leave and I panicked, hoping I would get to my car without falling. It was raining and I was hoping there were other vehicles in the lot that I could use to hang on to for balance, but most were gone. However, there was a pickup truck that came in handy for me and once I made my way over to my car.
I heard a voice behind me, saying my name. She told me who she was…Tammy Nieport Tollefson, one of Jamie’s classmates. We talked a little bit and she offered to help me the rest of the way to my car. That was so nice of her to grab hold of my arm and lead me there. I wonder if she saw where I was having trouble walking, but I sure appreciate her helping me out.
Thanks, Tammy, for what you did for this senior citizen Thursday night.
Yes, later this week on My County Link, I will have the article done concerning the FFA banquet which attracted an estimated 300-some people this year.
It is my goal to get back to good health so I can start covering more events once again on a part-time basis.
