I was just wonderin’…..

From the sidelines

Wednesday morning, after golf with my buddies Dale Ary and Randy Breaden, I got home, sat down outside for a while, and just watched traffic go by and relaxed. That is always dangerous because after a few minutes, I start wondering about things…….

I wonder what the school board in Greenville is going to do with the football field and stadium? It makes sense to me since the tornado started the demolition, to go ahead and finally build the new one that has been needed for years.  I don’t think it is a good idea to throw good money after bad and try and renovate the old one. It would be nice to hear the boards plan……..

I wonder what the W.N.B.A. REALLY THINKS about the abuse that Caitlin Clark has been taking?  I honestly do not think it is racism, I think it is just old fashioned jealousy.  The league has a chance to finally gain real relevance, and I hope they don’t blow it……….

I wonder how Joe Burrow’s wrist is doing?  The Bengals and Joe say they are taking it slow, but Joe does have a tendency to get hurt.  He is a real talent when healthy, one of the best in the league, but he is prone to injury, and his arm is his claim to fame……..

I wonder who is going to buy out Stewart Haas racing at the end of the NASCAR season. Tony Stewart now has other interests, including drag racing and wanting to start a family, and Gene Haas seems to have lost interest. Someone or several entities are going to get a ready-made organization, or several will purchase it and break it up….. It should be interesting……..

I wonder if the Edmonton Oilers of the NHL will finally, after 30 years, bring the Stanley Cup back to Canada?……….

I always wonder this time of the year can the Cincinnati Reds make the playoffs?  It doesn’t seem likely, they are to streaky if you ask me and it seems their pitching doesn’t hold up……..

I wonder if Scottie Scheffler will win the U.S. OPEN at Pinehurst, North Carolina this weekend?  Scotty is on a real roll, and shows no sign of slowing down, but Pinehurst Number 2 is one of the great courses in the world, and it is tough! The greens are probably the most unique in golf, designed by Donald Ross, and are so good that when it was brought back to its original form by Ben Crenshaw and Bill Coore one of the most respected architectural teams in Golf, they left the greens completely alone!  The U. S. OPEN should be good weekend entertainment!……

I wonder how many of our High School athletes are already working out, getting ready for the Fall season?  Knowing the athletes in Darke County, I am sure they are already hard at it, especially those going out for golf.  Now is the time……

Finally, I always wonder if anybody really enjoys the pieces I put out here. I write because I enjoy it, and I love sports and life in general, and I hope people see that……Life has been good to me and my family, and I am thankful for every day!

And that’s the way I see it….from the sidelines!
