GREENVILLE – The Great Darke County Fair each year sets Wednesdays aside as Armed Forces Veterans’ Day to honor our country’s veterans.
Tribute Funeral Homes’ Eric and Kristin Fee spearhead what has become an annual event at the local fair, a free hot meal for veterans attending the Great Darke County Fair. Veterans and immediate family members living in the same household are admitted free on Wednesday.
“We are pleased to share that this year’s Free Veterans Dinner at the Great Darke County Fair was another remarkable success,” said Eric Fee. “In just 30 minutes, we were able to serve a complimentary, hot meal to more than 600 veterans and their spouses. This tradition is one of our community’s most meaningful ways of expressing gratitude to those who have so selflessly served our nation.”
Darke County Veterans organizations presented a program in the Grandstand before the meal with Congressman Warren Davidson, a US Army veteran and a graduate of the US Army’s Military Academy at West Point, serving as the keynote speaker.
Darke County Veterans Services presented booney hats to veterans attending the veterans’ program.
“This event would not be possible without the unwavering support of our local businesses, organizations, and families,” Fee said. “Their generosity ensures that each year we can continue honoring our deserving veterans with grace, respect, and appreciation.”
