DARKE COUNTY – The three day 2023 Sheriff’s Patrol Home & Sports Expo drew large numbers in support of the Darke County Sheriff’s Patrol.
“We have had a very successful show this year,” said Darke County Sheriff Mark Whittaker. “We appreciate all the support from the businesses as well as the citizens that came out.”
“This cannot be done without all the volunteers that take care of this from the committee members which is made up of men and women, business leaders that have made this successful,” Sheriff Whittaker continued. “I also appreciate the Sheriff’s Patrol members which includes volunteers and auxiliary members as well as part and fulltime employees of the Sheriff’s office who volunteer their time to make this a success as well as the vendors and sponsors. “Without them this doesn’t happen.”
“We are overwhelmed by how well the show did,” said committee member Diane Delaplane. “We have had an awesome crowd from the public, community support has been great and all of our sponsors have been awesome.”
Funds generated from the annual Expo supports projects and reduces helps reduce the burden to tax payers.
“The donations and money generated here at the Home & Sports Expo goes to the Darke County Sheriff’s Patrol Not For Profit and that Not For Profit in turn utilizes that money to enhance the Sheriff’s office by providing funds for the canine’s so it’s less of a burden on the tax paying citizens as well as the training grounds and facilities, the firing range,” Sheriff Whittaker noted. “They have a number of other projects – warm winter wear that we use in the winter. “There are are a lot of things that happen through the Sheriff’s Patrol that reduces the burden on the tax payers and that is what we use these funds for and it’s so appreciated.”
