GREENVILLE—The Kiwanis Aktion Club Member of the Month for February 2023, is Jim Grewe.

Grewe is a newer member, and has been in the club for about two years. He was nominated by his peers because he goes over and beyond when volunteering, and is proactive when working on projects.

“When he moved to Greenville, he got more active,” Sue Huston, Community Connections and Advocacy Coordinator said.

When asked if he enjoys Greenville, he answered, “Oh, yes.”

In addition to volunteering and taking charge of club projects, he enjoys riding his bike, hanging out with his friend Mikey, NASCAR and the Las Vegas Raiders.

Grewe lives alone in Greenville, and in addition to Aktion Club, is also in book club and dance.

“I have lost like 10 pounds since joining,” he said.

He agreed that being involved in the community has given him a better sense of purpose, and active.

In the month of March, 32 Aktion Club members volunteered 255 hours of their time. Huston said that’s almost double there average hours, due to March being DD Awareness Month.

Recently, the club started their candy, trophy, nut sale which they hold every spring. The sale ends April 24, and every bag is $5. Funds from it go toward all of the club’s projects.

The group will also be participating in this month’s Trash Bash event, which will also help with funding of their projects.

Anyone interested in the sale can contact Huston. For more info on The Kiwanis Aktion Club, follow the Darke County DD Facebook page. For questions about the club, or questions regarding the food drive, contact Huston at sueh@darkedd.org.
