GREENVILLE – Greenville Lady Wave Softball two-time First Team All-Ohio power-hitting starting pitcher Zoey Burns has been named to the NFCA 2023-2024 All-Region, Region Eight Coaches Second Team.

“Zoey being All-Ohio First Team two times is absolutely amazing and incredible,” said veteran LWSB coach Jerrod Newland. “To play at our level and produce as she has is special. She seems to show up for big games and excel.”

“Zoey Burns is very special, and being included among the top 200 players in the USA is very impressive,” continued Coach Newland. “A great ‘A’ average student and great personality she has.”

The NFCA (National Fastpitch Coaches Association) is the professional organization for fastpitch softball coaches. Known for its nationally renowned Nationa Convention, the NFCA also educates and supports softball coaches on various levels, from podcasts to a comprehensive drills database to in-person events and Coaches Clinics presented by Gamechanger. More than 7,000 coaches nationwide are part of the NFCA.

“The other day at the banquet in Columbus, she was already talking about the finals of 2025,” Coach Newland said. “She is one of the kids eligible to move onto the All-American round of 64. Fingers crossed, and we will see here at the end of the month.”

Burns is a three-year starting pitcher and power hitter for the Lady Wave and returns for her senior 2025 season.

“On the region team, there were some familiar names, teams, and players,” Newland concluded. “Great stuff for LWSB and the program.”
