TROY – Greenville senior Mason Pierri punched his ticket into the District Tournament with three Sectional Tournament wins for the third straight year.

“This was a goal of Mason’s, with it being his third year playing first singles, and this entire season I knew he would be close,” said Greenville coach Sam Bowers. “It felt like destiny, with his 27th win landing in the same match that would secure his district spot again. A massive match carrying a lot of weight, and he handled the pressure like a champ.”

Along with punching his ticket to Districts, Mason broke a more than 20-year-old Greenville Senior High School boys tennis first singles season record for most wins.

The previous record, held by Landon Reifsnider, was 26 wins in a single season. Mason secured his 27th win of the season, also clinching Districts.

“Mason’s career gets to keep going, so we are excited to see what districts bring,” Coach Bowers stated. “Hard to say enough good things about his career, he’s had the best first singles season ever from a record standpoint, and that’s something special.”

Districts will be held at Centerville High School on Thursday, May 22, 2025.
