“We look forward to this camp every year,” Hardesty said. “It gets our season jump started.”

Munciana coaches John Dicken and Trey Butz led the Lady Wave camp bringing new ideas and volleyball drills to the event.

Coach Dicken serves as the 16U Nationals Coach for Munciana and Trey Butz coaches the 14U Munciana Volleyball team.

“They’ve come in to run our team camps for middle school and high school this year bringing in different viewpoints, how things are done, teaching the girls some great fundamentals and drills,” said Coach Hardesty. “We coaches are learning things too from listening to them.”

The camp is well structured with little downtime with the exception of water breaks.

“We kind of put the fear in them they’re going to work really hard and they do but yet they’re excited about coming into day three,” Coach Hardesty stated. “It’s not been as hard as they may have thought it was going to be because they do make it fun but they are also learning.”

“One thing we’ve talked about this year,” Hardesty added, “let your mind control your body, not your body control your mind so mind over matter and we’ll get through these days. They’ve been super enthusiastic from working hard.”

The camp included 23 junior high campers in the early session and 23 high school girls in the late afternoon and evening session.

Two new Lady Wave volleyball coaches; junior varsity coach Krystal Burke and junior high coach Maddy Innes along with veteran assistant varsity coach, Jim Hardesty were also on hand to help with the camp.

“It has been a good camp for them,” said Lady Wave assistant varsity coach, Jim Hardesty. “This is the second year they (Munciana) have been here. Both camps with this group have been different and both have been teaching a lot. They are really learning. We have a good group of eighth graders coming in that is learning fast.”
