Greenville tops West Carrolton in MVL baseball play

GREENVILLE – Greenville jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning to defeat West Carrollton 6-2 in MVL action.

“We played solid baseball with Bryce Blumenstock pitching a complete game,” said Greenville coach Adam Eberwein. “We cleaned things up compared to Monday’s game. We still have a few small parts of the game to work out, but our guys are playing well.”

The Green Wave made the most of a first-inning hit batsman, a Pirates error, and Isaac Kerg and Cole Oswalt singles to plate 3 runs to lead 3-0 heading to the second.

Greenville plated 2 runs in the bottom of the third taking advantage of a Braeden Wills leadoff double, and Owen Mcgreevey and Charlie Jasenski singles for a 5-0 score.

West Carrollton scored single runs in the top of the fourth and fifth innings cutting the Wave’s lead to 5-2.

Greenville added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth, using an Oswalt single, a walk, and a Carrollton error for a 6-2 final score.

Bryce Blumenstock pitched a 4-hitter in going the distance for the Wave to earn the win. The Greenville senior allowed 1 earned run on 4 hits, and no walks while striking out nine.

Oswalt led Greenville at the plate going 2-3 with 3 RBI and a run scored. Wills went 1-3 with a double and 2 runs; Kerg 1-3 and a run; Titus Eberwein 1-3; C. Jasenski 1-2 with a walk, 2 RBI; Mcgreevey 1-3 and a run; Garner a hit batsman and a run, and Drew Hamilton an RBI.
