LANCASTER – Greenville Thunder, Post #140, advances to the quarter-final round of the American Legion 2025 Department of Ohio Senior State Tournament tomorrow. Greenville Thunder, Post #140, got off to a bit of a slow start, as Sidney Thunder, Post #217, scored first in the 1st inning.
Greenville was able to take the lead at the top of the 3rd inning, after Braeden Wills doubled to right field and Alex Gaerke shot a single down the right field line – allowing both Wills and Gaerke to each score a run.
“I know we lost momentum after the rain delay, but I’m glad we pulled it together”, said Coach Henry. On the mound, pitcher Owen Mendenhall earned the win for Greenville.
Not only did Greenville have six stolen bases, but they also turned two double plays during the match-up with Sidney, which certainly added to the energy from Greenville’s supportive fans! Greenville Thunder, Post #140, was able to take the “W” over Sidney Thunder, Post #217, with a final score of 5-2.
Greenville will now advance to the quarter-final round on Sunday, July 27, with the first pitch scheduled for 9:00 am.
