GREENVILLE – The Greenville Lady Wave Jr. High teams competed in the MVL (Miami Valley League) volleyball tournament rounds on Saturday, but played at two separate sites: The seventh-grade brackets were hosted at Greenville Middle School, while the eighth-grade brackets were hosted at Tippecanoe Middle School.
The Lady Wave eighth grade played their opening round of the tournament on Thursday night, Oct. 15th, at home. They won the match that evening against the Lady Pirates of West Carrollton in two sets and advanced to the quarter-round bracket on Saturday, where they faced a tough opponent: the Tipp City Lady Red Devils. Unfortunately, the Lady Wave fell to the Lady Red Devils in two sets, bringing their season to an end.
As the eighth-grade bracket continued into the semi-final round, Tipp City took the win over the Troy Lady Trojans. The Lady Red Devils will advance to the championship round, to be hosted at Greenville Middle School on Tuesday, Oct. 20th, with first serve at 7:00 pm. Tipp City will face the Vandalia-Butler Lady Aviators for the eighth grade championship.
The Lady Wave seventh grade won their quarter-final match at 12:30 pm. on Saturday, winning in two sets, over the Mad River (Stebbins) Lady Indians. Advancing to the semi-final round, they took on the Piqua Lady Indians at 2:30pm. The undefeated seventh-grade Lady Wave team was victorious over the Lady Indians, winning in two sets.
They will advance to the championship round, which will be hosted at Greenville Middle School, on Tuesday, Oct. 20th, where they will face the Lady Red Devils of Tipp City. First serve for the seventh-grade championship round will be at 5:30 pm.
