GREENVILLE — The Greenville Mural Committee has announced the installation of its newest changeable mural on North Broadway, continuing its mission of expanding public art throughout the city while honoring the legacy of a beloved local artist.
The new butterfly mural is displayed on the exterior wall of the Blue Lantern Tea House, where owners Jesse and Kim Berry have partnered with the committee to host the community’s second changeable mural.
“Kim and I love all the murals that have been installed around town and are excited to feature another mural on our business,” Jesse Berry said.
The Blue Lantern Tea House, which also is home to Young Forest Martial Arts, was designed to reflect the authentic tea experiences that inspired the business. The Berrys said they are pleased to provide another location where public art can be enjoyed by residents and visitors alike.
The inaugural artwork at the site features the work of the late Michael Glass, a respected artist who died in July 2025. A native of Westerville and graduate of the Columbus College of Art and Design, Glass earned recognition for commissioned artwork displayed by organizations, institutions, and private collectors.
For many in Darke County, however, Glass was best known for his annual holiday window paintings in downtown Greenville, a tradition that created lasting memories for generations of residents and visitors.
The butterfly mural was selected to celebrate Glass’ artistic legacy and recognize the joy his artwork brought to the community.
The installation marks the ninth completed mural project by the Greenville Mural Committee, which has worked to transform public spaces through art across the city. In addition to its mural program, the committee partnered with Greenville High School students to create artwork now displayed on seven decorative power boxes throughout Greenville.
Committee members said the public art initiative has been made possible through the support of community organizations and businesses.
Funding and sponsorship for the project were provided by the Ohio Arts Council, Darke County Endowment for the Arts, Lydia E. Schaurer Memorial Trust Fund, Ketrow Foundation, Blue Lantern Tea House and Wintrow Signs.
The committee said the new mural continues its efforts to enhance Greenville’s downtown while celebrating local artists and creating new attractions for the community.
