“Special day for Hayden Burns,” said Middle School coach, Dennis Eckstein. “He’s been seeking a first-place finish all season and couldn’t have picked a better time than the MVL Championship.”

All eight Lady Wave Middle Schoolers are first-year runners with a good cross-country future ahead.

“The girls are our little group that could,” said Eckstein. “All eight have competed all year like seasoned veterans. I know they were a little down after the race, but finishing just eight points off Troy and two behind Tipp is a great accomplishment. They have a great future ahead of them.”

“The boys have been in the shadow of the girls all year, but began to peak the last few weeks,” Coach Eckstein added. “They definitely peaked today, six medalist and a second place finish only 9 points from taking first. Very happy for them. We’re looking forward to our final week of the season and closing things out with a trip to Columbus for the State Middle School meet next Sunday.”
