GREENVILLE – Greenville Senior High School honored four Lady Wave seniors; No. 2 Emma Kiracofe, No. 8 Josie Madden, No. 14 Kaelyn Gump, and No. 24 Joslyn Crist prior to hosting the Sidney Lady Yellow Jackets in Senior Night MVL action.
“We have four seniors this year and overall they are just wonderful girls, they’re great out here on the field, they’re encouraging, out here giving advice to the players but off the field, they’re just all-around great girls,” said Greenville assistant coach, Caitlin Beasecker. “That’s all we can ask for, that they are great on the field but they are even more awesome off the field.”
The OHSAA DI Sidney Lady Yellow Jackets defeated DII Greenville 10-0 giving the Lady Jackets an impressive 12-2-3 over record and a 6-1-2 MVL Valley Division first place finish.
The Wednesday night soccer match brings the regular season to a close with the OHSAA tournament yet to play. Greenville drew a bye in the opening round giving the Lady Wave a few extra days to spend time together working on their game.
“We’re going to have extra time,” said Beasecker. “We’re going to continue working on the basics, dribbling, trapping, passing, all of those basics and just making sure that we have those down going into that tournament time, and of course just bonding even more with the girls and all of them being able to spend that extra time together and just becoming closer.”
The No. 11 seed Greenville Lady Wave will play the winner of No. 2 seed Carroll and No. 9 seed Indian Lake on Thursday, October 19th with a 7 p.m. start time at the sight of the first-round winning team.
Greenville closes out regular season play with a 1-14-2 record.
