GREENVILLE – The Greenville Lady Wave earned the 2025 MVL Championship trophy with a convincing 10-0 run-rule win over the visiting Sidney Lady Yellow Jackets on Senior Night at Lady Wave Stadium.

“I am just so proud of the program and where we’ve come and where we’re going,” said Greenville coach Jerrod Newland. “Just so proud of them.”
Greenville honored three seniors before the game: No. 5 Kylar Arnett, No. 19 Morgan Thompson, and No. 21 Zoey Burns.

“What a great day for Lady Wave Softball,” Greenville coach Jerrod Newland said. “Three great kids, and just great for the program. Packed house here today, and just a fun atmosphere.”
“Three great seniors, three great families,” Newland continued. “Look at all the people around here at the park tonight. Just so proud of the three and just awesome kids. Three great kids, and what great jobs they did here tonight.”
Coach Newland went to his bench early and used the “batter leading off too early” to keep the conference game respectable, keeping the Lady Wave perfect on the season in conference play.
Greenville put the game away in the bottom of the first inning, cranking out six runs to lead 6-0 after one complete.

Senior Kylar Arnett led off the inning with a line drive single to center, Ella Oswalt took a bases loaded hit by pitch for the first run of the night, a Lizzie Shaffer infield hit was played for an error plating two runs, Leah Force drilled a 2-run double to left and senior Morgan Thompson drove an RBI double to left giving LWSB an early 6-0 advantage all coming with no outs in the inning. Leaving the base too early was put into play to help bring the inning to a close.
The bottom of inning No. 2 opened with three straight walks and a hit batter plating a run without the bat coming into play and bringing a pitching change from the Lady Yellow Jackets. Back-to-back Greenville groundouts produced two runs, and a Thompson RBI single pushed the Lady Wave lead to 10-0 with two innings in the book.
Greenville made it a 12-0 game after three complete with an Arnett leadoff single, a “leaving the base too early”, pinch runner C Stebbins crossing the plate on a wild pitch, and run run-producing error upped the Lady Wave lead 12-0.
Sidney got its lone run of the night in the top of the fourth in what proved to be the final score of the night, giving the Lady Wave the Miami Valley League Championship trophy.
“We’re 17-0 in the league and get the trophy out here on the field for senior day,” Newland stated. “How awesome is that for these three kids. Another win and 21-1.”

Two-time First Team All-Ohio senior Lady Wave pitcher Zoey Burns earned the win on the mound, throwing 4.0 innings of one-run ball, no walks, while striking out seven.
