GREENVILLE – The Greenville Lady Wave won all four quarters in defeating the visiting Piqua Lady Indians 39-28 in Saturday afternoon WOAC varsity basketball action.
“Anytime we get one, it’s a good game,” said Greenville coach Rachael Kerns. “Megan Lind defensively was incredibly solid, and we got a lot of good things offensively because of what we did on the defensive end.”

“Anytime we hold a team to 28 points, good things are going to happen,” she added. “This is our best defensive four quarters we have had all year.”
Greenville used five Avery Baumann five first-quarter points, including her first of three triples on the day, a Jayda Lyons bucket, and 2-2 at the charity stripe from Brooke Schmidt to take a 9-6 lead after one-quarter of play.
The Lady Wave added 10 second-quarter points, five by Megan Loudy, including a 3-pointer, two Schmidt baskets in the paint, and a Baumann free throw. They held Piqua to six points, sending the teams to the break with the Lady Wave holding a 19-12 advantage.

The Greenville girls took the third 11-10, with Bauman draining two triples for six points and Megan Lind accounting for five points, giving the home-standing Lady Wave a 30-22 lead after three complete.
“Aubree Carroll (Piqua) is really good, and Jada Lyons does a good job of not letting anybody get comfortable,” Kerns stated. “People don’t realize what Jada does. She single-handedly took her out of whatever she wanted to do offensively, and that really helped us out.”

Lind paced Greenville with seven fourth-quarter points and a Schmidt bucket, giving the Lady Wave a double-digit win while limiting the visitors to six points in the final period.
“Avery Baumann carried us in spurts a little bit from the outside for a little while,” Coach Kerns noted. “Megan Lind did a phenomenal job defensively, and when we started the third quarter, we got inside. She did a good job finishing. Brooke had one of her best overall games this year, too.”

Piqua’s Aubree Carroll led all scorers with a game-high 14 points, while the Lady Wave got balanced scoring, with Baumann and Lind each scoring 12 points.
