The Up & Running Invitational is normally held on a Saturday – but with the forecast for below freezing temperatures and a 20 mph wind speed predicted, it was decided to move the invitational to the following Monday night, March 25th – where temperatures made near perfect conditions for the event.

GHS Coaches Bill Plessinger and Jake Porter both echoed the same statement:  “The Up & Running Invitational is a good event to judge how the athletes perform, where we can move/shift the kids around a little so that they can reach their potential – and gives the freshmen a good taste of what high school track & field events are like”. Coach Plessinger said that he is excited to see where the kids are at in 2 – 3 weeks – “We have a great bunch of kids this year”.

Out of the 18 teams at Monday night’s invitational, GHS finished 8th overall. The Greenville track & field hosted their own invitational on Friday night, March 29th, at the Jennings Center.  The Green Wave will have a busy start to April, as they have the Wayne Relays at Butler HS on Tuesday, April 2nd. and the Herb Hartman Invitational at Troy HS on Friday, April 5th.
