GREENVILLE – Greenville hosted the Greenville JV Pool Wrestling Tournament Saturday filling the Greenville High School gymnasium.

“We started working on this tournament earlier this week,” said Greenville varsity coach, David Guillozet. “Our coaches were able to get us the rosters early and we were able to get this going pretty quick this morning. It’s a lot of work putting them on, the kids have to work and a lot of parents stepped up and helped out this week for this tournament. We are very appreciative of their help and support.”

The Green Wave had 10 JV wrestlers taking to the mats as the program continues to show signs of growing numbers.

“We have a good young core of kids at the moment on varsity so they are going to have to work their way into it,” Coach Guillozet said of Wave wrestlers moving up next year. “Hopefully some of these kids can improve enough to get to the varsity level.”

“We started this season with 32 kids and you’re going to lose some here and there but overall our junior high program is looking better,” added Guillozet. “Our youth program is starting to bring kids up and the numbers are looking a lot better for us.”

Coach Guillozet is very pleased with his coaching staff that puts in countless hours with the wrestling program.

“All my coaches do a good job,” Guillozet stated. “They are very knowledgeable and work hard to help improve these kids.”
