Greenville Falls on the Road to MVL-Leading Tippecanoe

Wave shoot well at the line, but Red Devils’ size and scoring prove too much

TIPP CITY – The Greenville Green Wave made the road trip to face Miami Valley League leader Tippecanoe but returned home with a 61-35 conference loss to the Red Devils.

Tippecanoe set the tone early, using a strong opening quarter to build a 22-8 advantage. Greenville senior Johnny Barr accounted for four of the Wave’s first-quarter points.

Greenville responded with its best stretch of the night in the second period, outscoring the Red Devils 12-8 to cut into the deficit. Barr led the charge with eight second-quarter points, but Tippecanoe still carried a 30-20 lead into the halftime break.

The Red Devils regained control coming out of the locker room, putting together a 17-6 third quarter to extend the margin to 47-26 with one period remaining. Tippecanoe closed out the game by taking the fourth quarter 14-9, securing the 26-point MVL victory.

One bright spot for Greenville came at the free-throw line, where the Wave connected on 9 of 10 attempts for the night.

Tippecanoe’s 6’7″ senior Bryton Otto led all scorers with a game-high 22 points, while Barr paced Greenville with 14 points.

With the win, Tippecanoe remains perfect in MVL play at 14-0 and improves to 14-2 overall. Greenville falls to 3-16 on the season and 2-13 in conference competition.
